“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
Abraham Lincoln
I recently saw a person’s anguished comments following the death of her much loved husband.
“Feeling so sad today that the plans we made to secure our aging future have been annihilated … now its struggle struggle for the rest of my life on this earth, and alone…. it wasn’t supposed to be like this after all our years of work and service to our country and God.
Maybe the Government should just line us all up when we are old and shoot us.
Life’s too hard to cope with.”
Compare this with another real life story.
“Life was painful to say the least. I lost my soul mate and was soon to make a rash decision with finance just to feel I was alive. My face told the story of deep anxiety without a word having to be spoken. Friends could see I was isolated and without strength. Desperate people listen, and when I was advised to seek help to begin putting life back together, it sounded so much more intelligent than doing life alone with nothing more to help than opinions from the well meaning. At fifty-seven years of age I invested the few dollars I had left into wisdom. I knew from the great book that “wisdom builds the house.”
Knowing that nothing escapes His attention, I figured my Heavenly Father would know the contact details of the coach I needed. Chris Freeman, founder and lead coach of *BWC’s Design a Decade program became my coach, mentor and chief encourager, and as the next decade rolled by we constructed a new normal.
It’s never too late to begin again. But greatness is never achieved in isolation. We were never supposed to arrive at the finishing line alone.
So if you need to, begin again. It’s never too late.
